Hello
My thoughts: Positive workplace environment gives people the possibility to concentrate on their tasks and by that perform much more effectively. Very often managers do not see that improved and positive workplace environment is a great possibility to improve results.

The bottom line is, that if managers do not recognize it as a possibility, people should improve their workplace environment by themselves. There are many things people can easily improve in the physical environment (positive quotas on the wall) and also many things people can change in their thinking process (like concentrating on solutions instead of problems).
Best Regards

What an inspiring musing! I wish you the best and success with meeting the people you'd like to meet (who are living), (re)visiting the places you'd like to visit, and doing all those non-consulting things in your spare time.

Thank you Mark. Andrew Field is right in keeping a focus on maintaining good relationships with employees through their managers. As Doug Conant of Campbell Soup said in his interview with the WSJ, "CEOs tend to develop this perspective of leadership as being this grand inspirational thing. But it is all about making powerful connections in tiny moments. Another thing I have done for about eight years is a CEO luncheon every six weeks. A dozen to 15 employees from all levels join me."

Employees are people, they are not numbers. A key driver for employee engagement is for leaders to show that they care about their employees in an authentic way, through simple gestures like saying hello and thank you, and stop and ask their employees about their life outside of work.

Thanks for adding my blog to your feed.
